Doors with special thermal insulation
Designed for chill compartment applications, our thermally insulated door leaf constructions are ideal for energy saving in residential wall applications, as exterior entrance, chamber or service doors. Door leaves with two-component PUR foaming provide extreme/special thermal and acoustic insulation, with an insulation value of 0.15-0.6 W/m2K depending on the thickness of the door leaf, which can provide very significant savings on household energy bills. By comparison, the thermal insulation value of an ‘average’ entrance door is around 1.6 W/m2K, while the best premium doors on the market can achieve a maximum thermal insulation value of around 0.7-0.8 W/m2K, which is approximately half the thermal insulation of a 60mm thick door leaf we manufacture.
The lower the W/m2K figure assigned to the product, the better the insulation value. The thermal insulation value of door leaves manufactured by Thermokor Ltd depends on the thickness:
40mm: 0.6 W/m2K
50mm: 0.51 W/m2K
60mm: 0.42 W/m2K
80mm: 0.32 W/m2K
100mm: 0.26 W/m2K
Our opening doors are fitted with heavy-duty galvanised metal or stainless steel hinges, and the locking mechanism can be either 1 or 2 point locking, with a 4-pin safety latch at the top second locking point. If required, we can provide a cylinder insert for the door, which is drill-proof, and the handle pairs can be painted, aluminium or stainless steel. Our products can also provide a special L1 air seal (suction mounted in case of pressure differential), which meets the most stringent food and refrigeration requirements.
The stainless steel C-section frame with a brushed surface can be built into a wall hole (with dowel fixing passing through the casing) and the door is made to the customer’s specific dimensions, so it can be made to any size that the raw material allows (in the case of a single-leaf door, approx. 110 mm free passage size). Doors opening to the outside are made with a stainless steel threshold, the sealing rubber used has special cold-resistant properties and can be easily replaced in case of damage.
The door leaf armouring is manufactured from standard in stock painted white (RAL 9010) coil sheet leaves (polyester, food industry coating), in addition to a range of door leaf colours, extra woodgrain and acid resistant / stainless door leaf covers are available. Stainless steel casings and door leaf armouring are made using wnr 4301 as standard, but in special cases (use of aggressive chemicals, salt, chlorine environments, corrosion hazards) we can also offer a stronger acid resistant solution (wnr 4404, wnr 4571).
